Indian Tiffin Room - the newest Indian restaurant in Liverpool - opened its doors in January 2024.

The restaurant has a street food focus inspired by the bustling streets of India, served in what they describe as a vibrant, friendly, and casual atmosphere (no thick carpets and curtains in sight).

Having opened successful Indian Tiffin Room restaurants across the North of England in Cheadle, Manchester and Leeds, co-founders Srini and Suresh decided the time was now right to bring their dishes and experience to the centre of Liverpool, with a spot on Duke Street just minutes away from Liverpool Central Station and the River Mersey.

As suggested by the restaurant name, South Indian tiffin dishes are a core feature of the menu. These street food dishes are traditionally eaten throughout the day from breakfast to dinner, and include dosa with a variety of different fillings, along with traditional dumplings and pancakes such as Idly, Medu Vada, and Uttapam. They have also taken influence from roadside highway daba spots, with a couple of dishes on offer such as their Mangalorean Tawa Minu.

The wider menu also features favourites such as Biryanis and Tandoori dishes, and the chefs have even recommended dish pairings where two dishes are a perfect match - for example the Lamb Chukka (diced lamb slow cooked with coconut and spices handpicked by the chefs) with the Mint Paratha. Tiffin Room also go out of their way to note that their dishes are all about spice and flavour rather than heat, so instead of a 'chilli rating', their staff let diners know what they can expect from their meal.

Something else we love to see is a unique beer on offer to pair with the curries. Indian Tiffin Room paired up with Twisted Wheel Brew Co to produce a Tiffin Room Ale, and also have a huge selection of signature cocktails on offer, such as a Vodka Puri (alcoholic version of India's favourite street food) and the Icy Spicy Chatpata.

Indian heritage and culture in Liverpool remains strong, and each year local organisation Milap - one of the UK's leading Indian Arts and Culture company - hosts a 12 day festival of Indian arts and culture in Liverpool called INDIKA. So if you're in town for the festival, or for anything else for that matter, Indian Tiffin Room will be one to add to your list.
