NEW INDIAN RESTAURANT
NOIR, MANCHESTER

NOIR - the newest Indian restaurant in Manchester - opened to diners in the Trafford Park area in February 2024.
In a city famed for its Indian cuisine, with more than 70 restaurants on the famous Curry Mile alone(!), it takes something special for a new Indian restaurant to stand out - and the hype surrounding the opening of NOIR shows that they could be on to something special.
The culinary philosophy behind NOIR is all about respecting traditional Indian cooking while embracing modern techniques and presentations, blending centuries-old recipes with contemporary twists - and this is definitely reflected in the menu.
Whilst there are some recognisable dishes on the menu like the Butter Chicken and the Chicken Biryani, Head Chef Nikhil Mahale’s creativity is on full display, with mains including a Tandoori Paneer ‘Lasagne’ with a Mushroom and Corn Butter Masala, and a Chateaubriand Tandoori Steak with Moti Fries.

There are also a decent number of small plates on offer for a shared dining experience, and these are equally unique across the board. A couple that stand out are the Braised and Fried Lamb Ribs served in a Tangy Achari Glaze, and the Bhature Taco filled with a Black Bean Masala topped with Baked Cheese and an Avocado Chutney - but in the most part anything you pick will be something you’d be unlikely to find in another restaurant.
For anyone wanting a more casual meal there are also a few ‘Baaps & Buns’ to choose from too, like the Chicken Tikka Smash Burgers or the Pulled Beef-filled Brioche.
Launched by the team behind the popular namesake restaurant in South Woodford, London, ambience is another key point of focus, with the Manchester Evening News describing the restaurant as having “a chic and dark interior that aims to create a contemporary dining experience”.
