NEW INDIAN RESTAURANT
SINGH STREET, EDINBURGH
Opening its doors in September 2024, Singh Street is the latest addition to Edinburgh’s vibrant dining scene, located in the bustling Bruntsfield area. This new Indian restaurant promises to bring a modern twist to both Indian street food and Scottish cuisine, offering a dining experience that spans brunch through to dinner.
Singh Street is helmed by Executive Chef Chris O’Connor, formerly of The Balmoral, a Michelin-starred restaurant. His vision is to reinvent Indian cuisine with local Scottish influences, creating a fusion that Edinburgh’s diners will find both familiar and adventurous.
Brunch at Singh Street offers a unique Indian-style take on Edinburgh’s well-established brunch culture. Diners can enjoy dishes such as bacon and egg naan rolls, spiced French toast, and a Punjabi omelette made with tomato, green chilli, spring onion and coriander - all served alongside traditional Indian chai tea.

For dinner, Singh Street offers a range of carefully curated dishes that combine the best of Indian and Scottish ingredients. Highlights include the haggis keema—a Scottish classic reinvented with Punjabi spices—as well as slow-braised mutton with Kashmiri chilli, and the awesome-sounding masala fish and chips. The diverse menu also features small plates like cauliflower fritters and a variety of curries, along with a wide selection of naan breads.
Speaking with Edinburgh Evening News, Head Chef Randhir Koli said “Flavour is a big thing for us and everything we do is authentic, homemade and made from scratch so we believe this is going be a local favourite. Fusing Scottish and Indian food is something I've done previously over the last three decades but at Singh Street we're taking it to a new level.”
And in an interview with Edinburgh Live, Singh Street partner Graham Atkinson said “We’re local, not a chain. We want to create a neighbourhood Indian hangout that offers brunch with a twist.”
The restaurant seats 100 diners across two floors and occupies the space previously held by The Chop House, which closed in June 2024
